| Matt,I see two problems with what you are saying: 1)Arent you being (just a wee bit)presumptive about the US and our oil reserves? Its a far cry from our present status of dependence upon Arab oil to producing an excess that we sell to others. 2) Why should we hope to have the Japanese produce cars we like? What would be so bad about having good 'ol American muscle with some finesse and great looks? Nothing against the Japanese engineers, but I think we have some pretty bright minds here... just need to rediscover their capabilities. Also, in my own humble opinion, I see nothing wrong with energy conservation, as long as it does not come at even greater expense (e.g.,life or freedom)
